The heat wave that has been going on for days is heading towards its peak this weekend: According to the meteorologists from Geosphere Austria, temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius are expected in eastern Austria, especially on Sunday. According to Ubimet, new June temperature records could be reached in all federal states. The previous Austrian temperature record dates from August 2013: 40.5 degrees were recorded in Bad Deutsch-Altenburg in the Bruck an der Leitha district of Lower Austria.
