Numbers could be even higher
The analysis was based on data from the German Weather Service (DWD) and population projections for 2025. However, experts warn that the real impact may be underestimated.
According to the Austrian NGO Klimadashboard, meteorological models have difficulty capturing “heat islands” in very dense urban areas. This means that, in large cities, the number of people suffering from high temperatures may be higher than officially projected.
