The heavy rains that hit the North Forest Zone of Pernambuco left, until this Sunday night (28), 523 people homeless and 1,643 displacedaccording to an updated report from the state Civil Defense.
The Government of Pernambuco reported that it maintains teams in the field to provide assistance to affected families and support affected municipalities.
According to the survey, Goiana has the largest number of homeless people, with 481 people sheltered in municipal shelters. In Timbaúba, there are 13 homeless people and .
Macaparana has 29 homeless people, while Vicência has 60 homeless people and São Vicente Férrer has another five homeless people.
As part of the emergency response, the state government sent humanitarian aid to Timbaúbawith 100 mattresses, 50 hygiene kits, 200 sheets, 75 gallons of five-liter mineral water and 20 basic food baskets.
Civil Defense teams also carry out and monitor the need to send new materials.
According to state management, the Fire Department remains mobilized to respond to incidents related to rain. During the weekend, two stranded people were rescued in Timbaúba with the help of an inflatable boat. In Goiana, two other people and a dog were removed from a residence affected by flooding, with support from Samu and the municipal Civil Defense.
The Government of Pernambuco informed that the teams continue to monitor it together with city halls and that new updates will be released as the surveys are completed.
“The Fire Department remains on standby to respond to any incident related to the rains. Our teams remain prepared to act in rescue, rescue and support for the affected populations. We also reinforce the alert for the population to respect the teams’ guidelines and avoid staying in areas subject to flooding or landslides”, stated the general commander of the Pernambuco Military Fire Department, Colonel Eduardo Araripe.
