Flávio says Brazil is jealous of the right-wing wave – 06/29/2026 – Politics

When speaking at an event for the Jewish community in Buenos Aires on Sunday night (28), the senator (-RJ) said that Brazilians feel “envy” of their neighbors, who in the last elections have chosen representatives from the right.

“We Brazilians look at this map [da América Latina] today a little envious. Because while our neighbors, one by one, choose freedom and order, Brazil is still stuck in the past. We are the missing piece on this map. And I’m here to say, bluntly: in October, that changes”, said Flávio, in an event room at a luxury hotel in the Argentine capital.

The opponent arrived in the country to participate in a conference to strengthen the region’s relations with . The three-day event is organized by the Allies of Israel Foundation, together with the American Friends of the Isaac Accords.

In addition to Flávio Bolsonaro, around 20 politicians from different countries will be present. This Monday (29), the senator must meet with the Argentine president, at the official residence of the presidency, Quinta de Olivos.

On Sunday night, the Brazilian politician made a new nod to the Jewish community, promising, if elected, something that Jair Bolsonaro had promised to do. “Today, in practice, there is no full diplomatic relationship between Brazil and Israel. Brazil has been without an ambassador in Israel since 2024.”

In his speech, he also said that he followed with “deep admiration” the meeting of the Shield of the Americas, an initiative by the Trump administration and Latin American governments to combat organized crime in the region.

In May, the United States decided to classify the CV (Comando Vermelho) and the PCC (First Command of the Capital) as terrorist organizations. According to Flávio, while neighboring countries came together to fight crime, the Brazilian government “mobilized, at the highest level, to ask the United States not to designate the two largest Brazilian factions as terrorist organizations.”

The event in Buenos Aires ends on Tuesday (30). To the press, the Argentine ambassador to Israel, Axel Wahnish, stated that Argentina must be the force that unites countries in the region to fight against terrorism and anti-Semitism.

Since the beginning of his term in December 2023, Milei has been a strong supporter of Israel. Last year, he was the first non-Jewish leader to receive the Genesis Award for his support of Israel.

The event aims to promote the adoption of the Working Definition in response to Anti-Semitism, improve the fight against terrorism and extremism, and foster joint actions in Latin America.

According to the Israel Allies Foundation, parliamentary support for the country throughout Latin America creates a new chapter in relations between Israel and the region, based on shared values.
