News that will affect many Slovaks: The change in the living wage from July will affect several pensions and foreclosures

  • The living wage will rise to 295.22 euros per month from July.
  • The amount after deductions for non-priority claims will be at least 413.30 euros per month.
  • In the case of priority claims, the debtor must have at least 295.22 euros per month.
  • The condition for early retirement will be a pension of at least 472.40 euros per month.

The increase in the minimum living wage to 295.22 euros from the current 284.13 euros per month will bring from July an increase in non-deductible amounts in executions, but also a change in the conditions for entitlement to an early retirement pension or the amount of the minimum pension from January 1 of the following year. Sociálna poisťovňa (SP) will perform the calculations automatically and will inform the insured persons affected by these changes in writing either by mail or eShránka.

The amount that must be left to the pensioner after deductions by law will be increased for non-priority claims to 413.30 euros per month (140% of the subsistence minimum). He must have an additional 206.65 euros per month for each dependent person.

For priority claims (excluding child support), the obligee must have 295.22 euros per month (100% of the subsistence minimum). He must have an additional 147.61 euros per month for each dependent person. 123.99 euros per month must remain for alimony for a minor child. He must have 103.32 euros per month for each additional dependent person. As of May 31, 2026, Sociálna poisťovňa registered 18,738 pensioners for whom pension deductions are made.

The change in the living wage from July 1, 2026 also affects the conditions for early retirement. The right to it will arise after June 30, 2026 only if the calculated amount of the pension exceeds 1.6 times the amount of the subsistence minimum. For applicants, this means that the right to an early old-age pension will arise from 472.40 euros per month.

The adjustment of the subsistence minimum will also be reflected in the amount of the guaranteed minimum pension. The lowest limit of the minimum pension (for the 30-year insurance period) will thus increase from 412 euros to 428.10 euros per month from January 1, 2027.
