Messenger market leader Whatsapp will in future allow users to add user names to their own accounts. So if you don’t want to give all 37 members of the parent group your private telephone number, you can – like WhatsApp’s sister Instagram – come up with an artist name and pass it on. The phone number, which was previously always visible for WhatsApp contacts, will then remain hidden. However, the user name should not be confused with the display name that is displayed in the profile.
