Arsenal started the year 2025 with a resounding 3-1 victory over Brentford, in a match valid for the 19th round of the Premier League. The clash took place this Wednesday (1st) at the Brentford Community Stadium, and featured goals from Gabriel Jesus and Martinelli.
Brentford surprised by opening the scoring in the 12th minute with Mbeumo, who took advantage of an escape on the right to score the first goal of the year. However, Arsenal reacted quickly, with Gabriel Jesus equalizing in the 30th minute after a scramble in the box.
The second half was dominated by the visitors, who turned the game around with goals from Merino in the 3rd minute and Martinelli in the 6th minute, establishing the decisive advantage.
The statistics reflect Arsenal’s dominance in the match. Although Brentford had surprising possession of the ball, the Gunners were more efficient in finishing, making 4 of 13 attempts compared to just 2 of 5 for the home team. Arsenal also excelled in passes, completing 370 compared to Brentford’s 398.
With this victory, Arsenal accumulated 39 points, six less than leaders Liverpool. Brentford remains in 12th place with 24 points.
