The former president (PL) recently praised the former minister of the Lula and Dilma governments, (MDB), and said he would like to have him head the “Amazonia” portfolio in a possible second term as President. Without mentioning Rebelo by name, Bolsonaro said that he considers the politician “who was from PCdoB” and “rapporteur of the Forest Code in 2012” to be a “fantastic guy” and highlighted the importance of recognizing competent people in other parties.

“There are good people in other parties out there. It’s difficult to find within the PT, PCdoB, PSOL, I think there’s hardly anyone there. I think whoever had it has already left. There is a deputy, I won’t say his name, who was from PCdoB, was rapporteur of the Forest Code in 2012 and left PCdoB. Let’s not shoot him because of that, he’s a fantastic guy in every aspect. He now traveled to the Amazon and gave a message to Brazil”, he said during an interview with AuriVerde Brasil radio.

Aldo Rebelo was already president of the Chamber of Deputies, headed the Defense, Sports, Science and Technology portfolios during the Lula and Dilma administrations, and headed the International Relations secretariat of São Paulo City Hall until July this year, when he left to dedicate to the re-election campaign of the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB). In May of this year, Aldo Rebelo released a book that discusses the Amazon, which was attended by Jair Bolsonaro.
