Last Saturday was a happy day for the 54 families from Olhão who will soon move into new housing at controlled costs, as they had the opportunity, for the first time, to visit their finished apartments, get in touch with the spaces and even make the necessary arrangements for the acquisition of furniture.
“Many of the new owners made a point of being accompanied by friends and family, with whom they shared the moment and exchanged impressions about the new home”, explains in a statement.
Throughout the morning there was also time to get to know many of the new neighbors and even plan the establishment of future condominiums.
Those who also wanted to be present at this happy moment were the mayor, António Miguel Pina, and councilor Ricardo Calé, who were the residents’ first “visits” to their new apartments.
“The construction of these 54 apartments at controlled costs, a project worth around 6 million euros, allowed many other families in our municipality to finally have their own home, at truly affordable prices, between 110 and 125 thousand euros. I am very proud and happy”, declared Antonio Miguel Pina at the end of the morning.
Once the first phase has been completed, the second phase of the cost-controlled housing project, which includes the construction of a further 288 housing units and 30 commercial spaces, will appear on the land of the former Litografia, on Avenida Sporting Clube Olhanense.
As part of the requalification of Bairro 16 de Junho, another 64 new houses will be built, to relocate some of the residents who live in less dignified situations.
