Mercadona announced the creation of approximately 200 new jobs in Portugal, with the opening of three supermarkets in Fafe, Penafiel and Santa Iria de Azóia, scheduled for 2025. This expansion is part of the Spanish retailer’s growth plan in the Portuguese market, where it already has more than 5,000 employees.
Among the advantages offered to new hires, the effective contract from the first day stands out. The initial gross annual salary for full-time roles is R$13,791.61, with the possibility of progression up to R$18,861.84. For part-time contracts, the annual remuneration starts at R$5,171.85 for 15 hours per week, reaching R$7,073.19. For 20-hour weekly contracts, the starting salary is R$6,895.80, with progression up to R$9,430.92.
In addition to salary conditions, Mercadona offers theoretical and practical training to its employees, without requiring prior experience, also promoting career development through internal promotion policies. This approach aims to guarantee stable and long-lasting careers, one of the company’s fundamental principles.
Mercadona entered the Portuguese market in 2019 and, since then, has invested around 1,000 million euros in the national territory. In 2025, the new stores in Fafe, Penafiel and Santa Iria de Azóia will reinforce the chain’s presence in Portugal. Anyone interested in joining the team can check the opportunities available in the Jobs section on Mercadona’s official website.
Founded in 1977 by the Cárnicas Roig Group, Mercadona currently has 1,615 stores, including 57 in Portugal, and a global team of 104,000 employees, of which 5,300 in Portuguese territory, according to information on the Spanish supermarket chain’s website.
