Trump already has a “border czar.” His name is Tom Homan

Tom Homan, former director of ICE

The former director of the Immigration Service has an iron fist: he comes to help Trump in the “largest deportation operation” promised by the Republicans. There is also a name for the representative at the UN: Elise Stefanik.

“I am pleased to announce that the former director of ICE [Serviço de Imigração e Alfândegas dos EUA] and one bastion of border control, Tom Homanwill join the Trump administration, responsible for our nation’s borders,” the Republican wrote on Sunday night.

In addition to overseeing the southern and northern borders and “sea and air security,” Trump said Homan “will be responsible for all deportations of foreigners illegal immigrants to their country of origin”, a central part of the President-elect’s agenda.

The new US president wrote on his social network Truth Social that he had “no doubt” that Homan “will do a fantastic job and which has long been expected.”

Homan’s appointment does not require confirmation by the Senate, the upper house of the United States parliament.

During the election campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly attacked migrants illegal immigrants he accused of “poisoning the blood” of the United States, and promised to reestablish a family separation policy at the border.

And Homan promised to continue the Republican’s anti-immigration policy: “It will be a well-directed and planned operationled by ICE men. The men and women of ICE do this every day. They’re good at that,” Homan assured.

“When we go to the field, we will know who we are looking for. We will probably know where they are and this will be done humanely“, he guaranteed.

Homan is the second name announced for Donald Trump’s future administration, after , the architect of the Republican’s victorious campaign.

According to , earlier this year, at the National Conservatism Conference in Washington, Homan showed displeasure at the news coverage of a deportation operation mass that occurred in the USA.

“Wait until 2025”, he said, and added that, although he considers that the government should prioritize threats to national security, “no one is out of the question. If they are here illegally, they better be looking over their shoulder.”

He also assured: “You have my word. If Trump comes back in January, I will be right on his heels when he comes back and I will direct the largest deportation operation this country has ever seen.”

Elise Stefanik couple and ONU

There is also a third name announced by Trump this Sunday: Elise Stefanik, Republican congresswoman.

“I am honored to nominate (…) Elise Stefanik to serve in my administration as United States Ambassador to the United Nations. Elise is an incredibly strong, tenacious and intelligent fighter for America,” Trump said in a statement to the New York Post on Sunday night.

According to , the republican “wasn’t always Trump’s biggest fan: The New York Republican, who was the youngest woman ever elected to Congress at the time of her first victory in 2014, voted against one of her signature legislative victories — her 2017 tax plan.

Stefanik’s eventual appointment will have to be confirmed by the Senate.

“In my conversation with President Trump, I expressed how deeply honored I was to accept his nomination and the my desire to secure the support of my colleagues in the Senate from the United States,” Stefanik said on Sunday.

According to CNN, Stefanik calls herself an “independent voice” and is known for her moderate personality.

The republican had already been highly praised by the former President of the Chamber of Deputies, Paul Ryanwho wrote in Time magazine that Stefanik was a “builder.”
