The murder of the criminal “businessman” last Friday (8) in broad daylight in the largest city in Latin America brings important reflections on the bankruptcy of our country. Organized crime no longer has limits to confront the State. It doesn’t matter if the airport is an extremely policed area and the chances of escape are small given the number of exit routes.
The doesn’t care. They executed a criminal who disembarked at the airport for having been a whistleblower on schemes involving the PCC and civil and military police. The State made a mistake three times. Firstly, because he failed to protect the witness who reported the scheme to the Police. Regardless of whether this option is up to the witness, police forces cannot let loose a living archive – and potential target for murder – of precious information about crimes involving criminals and police officers.
The State is also wrong, as it allows an execution at an international airport, where criminals were not at all intimidated in carrying out this action. And, for now, the State is wrong because it has not yet captured the criminals. But the State’s biggest mistake is impunity. No matter how many times these criminals are caught, at some point, they will walk out the front door of the jail. In fact, as happened with the PCC boss who even had a helicopter back. As long as Justice is tolerant of crime, the power of the PCC and the affront to the Brazilian State will only increase.
