Goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez and defenders Cristian Romero and Lisandro Martínez were trapped at Galeão airport, in Rio de Janeiro, after their flight to Buenos Aires was canceled this Monday (11). They will defend the Argentina team at Data FIFA.

The three players landed in Rio de Janeiro for a connection. They all arrived in Brazil this Monday morning on a flight from London, England, where they currently play.

British Airlines flight BA 249 was cancelled. The cancellation meant that the players’ journey to Buenos Aires took 30 hours.
“30 hours and we keep walking,” said Emiliano Martínez, on Instagram

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) found a solution and chartered a flight for the trio. They, however, did not arrive in time for training this Monday.

The Argentina team will play two games on this FIFA Date, both for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. On Thursday (14), Albiceleste visits Paraguay, at 8:30 pm (Brasília time). The team returns to the field on Tuesday (19), when they play against Peru, at 9pm, at home.
