Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala spoke on the phone with the newly elected US President Donald Trump on Monday and congratulated him on his victory. According to Fiala, the politicians also talked about foreign political topics. The Czech Prime Minister wrote this on the X social network, reports TASR in Prague.
Fiala described the interview with Trump as excellent. “I congratulated Mr. President-elect on his victory in the elections, we talked about Ukraine, as well as Israel and the Middle East. We mentioned his too deceased wife Ivana and they talked about the president’s memories of Prague,” Fiala wrote, adding that he looks forward to working closely with Trump.
Shortly after the victory of the Republican candidate in last week’s presidential elections, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic declared that the common goal of both politicians is to ensure that the relations between the countries remain at the highest level despite the changes in the American administration.
Later, he also commented on Trump’s announced promises that if he becomes president, will end the war in Ukraine very quickly. According to Fiala achieving peace in such a conflict is not easy. He also emphasized that long lasting peace must correspond to the international order and give clear guarantees to Ukraine.
