Turkey has always been one of the most popular holiday countries of Slovaks. The country combines a sufficient dose of exotic, other culture and interesting gastronomy, which attracts tourists year after year. Bathing lovers choose Antalya, Side or Bodrum, while the monuments most often go to Istanbul, Izmir and Kapadókie.
More than two -thirds of Slovaks are planning a summer holiday this year. More than half of them are going abroad. Compared to last year, however, people want to leave less vacation in Slovakia or Croatia, which results from a survey by Go4insight.

The popular holiday destinations of Slovaks also include this year Greece (eight percent), Italy or Turkey (seven percent). Slovak holidaymakers are increasingly interested in holidays outside European countries.

Forest fire on Sunday, June 29, threatened houses and industrial areas in the province of Izmir in the southwest of Turkey.
