Striker Ben Yedder, a Monaco idol who played for the French national team, was sentenced to two years in prison after accusations of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault committed against two young women aged 19 and 20.
In addition, the 34-year-old player will have to pay compensation of 6,500 euros (around R$39,000) to the victims. Ben Yedder’s brother was also found guilty of the crimes.
Ben Yedder’s career
Formed at Saint-Dennis in 2009, Ben Yedder has spent time at Toulouse, in France, and arrived at Sevilla, in Spain, in 2016. In 2019, the player returned to his country of origin, when he signed with Monaco , where he was one of the team’s references and captain.
In the 2022-23 season, Ben Yedder was called up by and participated in part of the cycle for the World Cup in Qatar, even being in the tournament’s official sticker album. Despite this, the striker was left out of the team’s final list for the World Cup.
