Tactics of a crazy grandmother: a 92-year-old woman outsmarted scammers

Show us those who are not yet fed up with constant calls from telemarketers and phone scammers who really know that “your card is making a suspicious payment”? A 92-year-old woman doesn’t like it either – here’s what she came up with to make the caller forget her phone number forever.

Expensive gifts

In order not to fall into the traps of scammers, it is better not to accept calls from unknown and hidden numbers at all, or learn to “identify” scammers using special programs. You can also immediately say “No” clearly and firmly to everything that the stranger on the other end of the phone offers you. Or you can learn from this lady named Donna, who learned how to protect herself from scammers using her family’s technique called “Grandma’s Madness.”

A video with visual instructions was posted on TikTok by Cheyenne Gonzolez, the granddaughter of the crafty woman. She is an active user of social networks, where she introduces herself under the nickname “chey.mami”. According to Cheyenne, her 92-year-old grandmother has a very clear mind and her cognitive abilities are good. However, she has learned to play dementia when the scammers call her – and she does it just fine!

In the video, Donna begins the conversation: “You know, I can’t do this because I… You know… Do you believe in God? do you believe him I think we need to repent. What do you think about that?” It’s not uncommon for phone scammers to get excited and become even more active when they hear this, thinking that they can easily fool a crazy old lady. But you can’t fool Grandma Gonzolez! She continues, “Jesus will soon return to earth and take me to heaven.” Then she suddenly changes tactics and begins to bombard the interviewer with questions: “Are you ready to go with him?” Ready?” This is usually the end of the call.

There is another video on the page, recorded last August, in which a woman of respectable age deliberately misleads fraudsters by calling herself one or another name. At the beginning of the conversation, she introduces herself as Deborah, and then begins to call her interlocutor that name, and now the two Deborahs are talking on the phone. Suddenly, hearing this name, the old woman becomes angry and declares that she is Mrs. Lud Kalanger. And in order to “finish” a person who does not understand anything, she pretends that she did not hear the last phrase and asks her to repeat it – over and over again. Such a conversation can drive anyone crazy – and even psychologically resistant scammers are not prepared for it. Remember this!
