The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) released the calendar for the next season of Brazilian football this Tuesday (12). In the new organization, the Brazilian Championship will start on March 29th and end on December 21st. The Brasileirão will also have a month of stoppage in the middle of the season to compete in the new Club World Cup.
During the new FIFA tournament, Brazilian clubs that are not participating in the competition will be able to go on interseasons or tours abroad. The interruption will happen after the 12th round of Series A. Flamengo, Fluminense, Palmeiras are already classified. The 2024 Libertadores champion (Atlético-MG or Botafogo) also guarantees a place in the competition.
The state championships start in the second week of January, starting on January 12th. On the other hand, the final date for the tournaments is set for March 26th, three days before the first division begins. Another new feature are the stoppages in all FIFA Data periods scheduled for next year.
The CBF also created a registration period for new players between June 2nd and 10th, so that teams can use reinforcements in the World Cup. The window will reopen between July 10th and September 2nd, following the main European leagues. According to the federation, the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil will also undergo changes in the new calendar. The games will be played on weekends, as well as the finals. The measure aims to make the competition’s decision even more attractive, facilitating the promotion of matches and fans’ access to games.
“With a lot of dialogue, we managed to create a better calendar for clubs, federations, athletes, managers and fans of Brazilian football. We discussed extensively with the Federations and the National Club Commission, which represents 124 clubs that compete in the four series of the Brazilian Championship, and we count with the support of these institutions to move forward”, said the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues.
