Are you looking for grave flowers that will not wither and stay beautiful for a long time? Here are some tips…

Most of us deal with the concerns of mortals and visit cemeteries sporadically. Therefore, the question arises – how to beautify the grave so that it always looks good and tidy? “Unfortunately, many live cut flowers only have a short lifespan. Therefore, most visitors to cemeteries prefer artificial ones. They are not beautiful, but they last in any weather,” one of the visitors to the cemetery thinks about the floral decoration of the graves.

Carpet plants

It is interesting that, just like visitors to cemeteries, the workers of these facilities themselves do not like seeing plastic decorations very much. Currently, it is becoming a trend to buy perennials for graves, which need minimal care and are resistant to the effects of the weather.

In general, so-called carpet flowers are recommended, which can cover a larger area, are relatively low (5-25 centimeters) and do not require any care. Examples are for example periwinkle, cockle-cock, clematis, ground-covering sedums, creeping recluse or evergreen iberia.

Frost-resistant plants that work independently are also a good choice. A rhododendron or azalea is excellent, for example. But before you plant them, don’t forget to change the soil, because these flowering beauties love only acidic soil, preferably peat. Mulching of graves is also important, which prevents the spread of weeds. Thanks to this, the space is beautifully clean and tidy even after several months of your absence. You can use pebbles as mulch.

Autumn arrangement

Other adepts for decorating graves are perennials such as hollyhock, bergenia fat-leaved or even hydrangea (in combination with ivy). Chrysanthemums, which experts recommend buying from Czech ornamental nurseries, are suitable for autumn decoration of graves.

Why? Because the Dutch ones only last a few days, while the chrysanthemums grown in our homeland are literally “keepers”. Asters, low dahlias, pansies or heathers also look beautiful.

Bet on conifers

Experienced plant growers also recommend conifers for the grave. “Dwarf forms of cypresses, silver spruces, pines or yews are ideal,” recommends one of the experts, adding that the trees work well as solitaires, do not require any care and make the grave look tidy.
