The Prime Minister of Hungary and the Fidesz ruling party, Viktor Orbán, emphasized the importance of patriotism and a strong Europe at the first general assembly of the European Parliament group Patriots for Europe (PfE) in Paris on Saturday. With reference to the MTI agency, the correspondent of TASR in Budapest informs about it.
“Former President Donald Trump, who is himself a patriot, is returning to power after a break of one election cycle. So we can proudly say that we, the patriots, are the majority of the Western world,” said Orbán.
According to his statement, the lesson is that the left would do anything to destroy the right politically, morally and legally, as it tried to do in the case of Trump.
“Leftist parties were in power, but under their leadership, America and Europe weakened. They mishandled inflation, energy management, security, war, education, civilizational challenges, and of course immigration. They are the obstacles to making America, Hungary, and Europe great again, ” underlined the Hungarian prime minister.
He added that in the elections to the European Parliament, voters sent a clear message that they want change in Brussels. “Now we (PfE) are the third biggest force in the EP, but there is a good chance that we will be the strongest by the end of the cycle. We have already won in France, the Czech Republic and Austria and we will continue to do so,” he underlined.
The establishment of PfE as an alliance of far-right parties in the EP was initiated by Orbán together with former Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš. It has 86 members in the 720-member EP. In addition to the Hungarian Fidesz, the Czech ANO movement and the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), they also include the French far-right National Association (RN), the Spanish Vox, the Portuguese Chega, the Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV), the Danish People’s Party (DF) and the Belgian Vlaams Belang (Flemish interest).
