Washington/Manaus – Shortly before the change of power in Washington, the outgoing US President Joe Biden is setting an example for the fight against the climate crisis by visiting the Brazilian Amazon. The stopover before the start of the summit of heads of state and government of leading economic powers (G20) in Rio de Janeiro is historic. Biden is the first sitting US president to visit Manaus, on the banks of the Rio Negro in northwestern Brazil.
