On the eve of Christmas, Americanas closes distribution center in Osasco (SP)

On the eve of key dates for trade, Americanas closed a distribution center located in Osasco, in the metropolitan region of the city of São Paulo, at the beginning of October.

The building located at 643 Henry Ford Street was recently seen being painted white and without the company’s sign.

Americanas told CNN that the closure of the distribution center is part of the company’s restructuring strategy, which seeks to consolidate a more agile, profitable and efficient operation.

Even though it has one less distribution center on the eve of Christmas and Black Friday, a period of strong retail movement, Americanas states that “the movement has no impact on supply and delivery to consumers, who will be able to continue purchasing products and services available in several Americanas stores and also on the brand’s website and app.”

According to the retailer, employees at the location were transferred to the distribution center in Itapevi (SP).

The company says that it is mapping points that are not as profitable for the operation, and seeking to invest where there is still opportunity for growth, such as in the Northeast.
