However, what made them stand out was this size. This is where their name comes from. These are large dumplings, the diameter of which was up to 15 cm in length. Instead of wasting time making small dumplings, It was enough to stick together a few bulls to effectively satisfy their hunger.

Today, bulls are a delicious dish that fills you up quickly, especially during the cold winter months. Find out how to prepare them.

Ingredients for the stuffing:

  • 2 kg of pork,
  • 1 kg bacon,
  • 250 g bacon,
  • 500 g of onion,
  • bay leaf,
  • allspice,
  • salt and pepper
  • additionally: oil or lard for frying.

Ingredients for the cake:

  • 4 kg of raw potatoes,
  • 1 kg of boiled potatoes,
  • 3 eggs,
  • salt and pepper
  • additionally: flour for dusting.

We start by preparing the stuffing. Put the meat into a large pot, pour water and add spices – allspice and bay leaves. If we like more aromatic dishes, we can adjust their quantity to our preferences. Cook until the meat is soft. We ground them in a meat grinder. Peel the onion and chop it finely. Put it in a pan with heated fat. Fry for a few minutes, and when it becomes translucent, add the meat. Fry together for a while. Finally, taste and season with salt and pepper.

Grate raw potatoes on a fine grater. Then we press them firmly on a sieve to remove excess water. Place in a large bowl, add boiled potatoes, eggs, salt and pepper. Knead thoroughly until the ingredients form a uniform mass. If the potatoes we use have a lot of water, the mass may be quite sticky. We can improve its consistency with an additional tablespoon of flour.

Form large pancakes from the dough. Put the filling on them and then form oblong dumplings. We throw them into boiling, salted water and cook for 10-15 minutes. After this time, take them out and serve them hot.

Świętokrzyskie bulls taste best with garnish. We can prepare it very easily. For this we will need:

Cut the bacon and onion into cubes. First, add the bacon to the pan and let it melt. Then add the onion and fry everything until golden. Pour the prepared garnish over freshly cooked bulls.

Bulls can also be given with a spoon of sour cream and your favorite salad. A fresh accent will help break the heavy consistency of the noodles and will also provide us with healthy nutrients.

Bulls taste delicious fresh, immediately after cooking. However, it is worth giving them a chance for the second or third day – fried will taste even better.
