Russia’s war against Ukraine is gaining dramatic proportions, the Polish head of state notes. He claims that the past several dozen hours have shown that the threat is serious and real in terms of global conflict.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Friday, in response to Russia’s attack on Ukraine with a medium-range hypersonic missile on Thursday, declared that there is currently a real risk of triggering a global conflict. This is reported by TASR based on a Reuters report.
“The war in the East is entering a decisive phase, we feel that the unknown is approaching,” Tusk said at a teachers’ conference on Friday.
The threat of global conflict
“The conflict is taking on dramatic proportions. The last few tens of hours have shown that the threat is serious and real when it comes to global conflict,” Tusk warned,
According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the use of the hypersonic missile was a response to “aggressive actions by NATO states towards Russia”. Ukraine attacked Russia for the first time on Tuesday night with American ATACMS ballistic missiles, which Russia says the Ukrainians cannot target on their own .
Poland alone will allocate up to 4.7 percent of GDP to its armed forces in 2025. Poland, which borders Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus, is also calling on other NATO member countries to increase funding for their armies, Reuters writes.
