The North Atlantic Alliance and Ukraine will discuss the Russian attack on the Dnipro. The discussion was sparked by the use of the Russian Oresnik missile.

Kyiv, November 22 (TASR) – The North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) and Ukraine will hold extraordinary negotiations at the ambassadorial level in Brussels on Tuesday, the topic of which will be Russia’s attack using a new hypersonic ballistic missile on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. AFP was told by unnamed diplomats on Friday, writes TASR.

The head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, announced on Thursday that Moscow attacked Ukraine with a new medium-range missile named Oreshnik (Lieska) and plans to continue “tests in combat conditions”. According to him, this was a reaction to the actions of the West. He also decided to start serial production .

The weapon is said to be unfireable

Russia claims it is a weapon that no one else has, cannot be shot down by current air defense systems and can hit targets across Europe. According to the commander of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces (SRMS) Sergey Karakayev, the missile can be equipped with both conventional and nuclear warheads.

“The deployment of this capacity will not change the course of the conflict or deter NATO allies from supporting Ukraine,” the spokeswoman for the Alliance responded to the new Russian missile.

This week, Ukraine began attacking Russian territory with longer-range American missiles. Last Sunday, the American newspaper The New York Times reported on the authorization of the United States for such attacks.

After the attack on Dnipro, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced on Friday that he is working with Western partners on the development of new air defense systems that will be able to face new threats.
