Food basket price exceeds 236 euros

The price of DECO’s basic food basket increased again. It now costs 236 euros and 9 cents, 1 euro and 16 cents more than last week.

It’s a small increase, but still prices are higher than a year ago and more than 50 euros more expensive than at the start of the war in Ukraine.

DECO’s food basket has been tracking the prices of dozens of food products weekly since the beginning of 2022.

This week alone, the price of the basic food basket increased by 1 real and 16 cents (0.5% more than the previous week). It now costs 236.09 euros. Last year, at the same time, it cost 4.39 euros less. Although slowly, it has been rising.

This week, the products that dropped the most were yogurt, ham and cereals. The ones that increased the most increased a lot: fish and some vegetables.

The prices of the products in the basket change every week. And it will always be like this. Consumers can take advantage of trends to adapt weekly family menus to products that are cheaper that week and avoid more expensive ones when they undergo large increases. According to DECO, this is the best way to manage the consumer’s budget.

Since the beginning of the year, the trend has been for prices to stabilize. They remain high, but at least sudden price increases no longer occur as frequently.
