Municipality of Albufeira joins the Turismo do Algarve Association to enhance tourist offer

Albufeira joined the Algarve Tourism Association (ATA), becoming the sixth municipality in the region to join this tourist promotion entity, after deliberation on July 31.

The City Council stresses that the minutes is the only regional agency recognized by Turismo de Portugal for the tourist dissemination of the Algarve and its regional products. Non -profit, the entity operates on various fronts, developing specific actions on external markets, defining fundamental policies and strategies for the promotion and sustainable growth of destination.

According to the regulation, the minutes should contribute to the improvement of the tourist product, increase the qualification of tourist flows and reinforce the effectiveness of promotion actions. It is also necessary to support the external promotion of the county, propose and disseminate programs and projects and provide relevant information, including studies and statistical results.

For the president of, José Carlos Rolo, this “is a moment of great satisfaction” for Albufeira, “which only has to gain from this adhesion”. The mayor points out that “this step reinforces the visibility of Albufeira in international markets and allows to develop strategic partnerships that enhance the diversity of our tourist offer.”

The municipality recalls that, until July this year, “Albufeira was the second most sought after tourist destination in the country, after Lisbon, registering more than 4 million overnights.”
