A decision handed down this Saturday (23) by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes partially revoked a precautionary measure that prohibited the former Minister of Justice of Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) government, Anderson Torres, from leaving home at night. nights and weekends.

The request was made by Torres’ defense in October and justified the need for him to take care of his mother, Amélia Gomes da Silva Torres, 70 years old, who is facing cancer and is in serious condition.

The relaxation of the restriction is so that the former minister can “accompany and provide the necessary care for his mother’s health” and travel permission is limited to the mother’s home and the hospital where she receives treatment.

According to Alexandre de Moraes, the decision is provisional in nature. The minister ordered the Federal District Criminal Execution Court to evaluate permanent measures for the case. Weekly monitoring reports must be sent to the STF.

Torres had been arrested in January 2023, accused of omission during the acts of January 8th. At the time he held the position of Secretary of Public Security of the Federal District. In May, a decision by Moraes himself allowed him to respond to the process freely, but with traffic and monitoring limitations.

In February this year, the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) filed an investigation against Anderson Torres and six other people related to the acts of January 8th.
