Casserole with mushrooms and cheese it’s a great idea for homemade fast food. You can prepare it with simple ingredients, and you can be sure that it will be made from proven food products. You can diversify the finished dish with other favorite ingredients. Ham, leftover chicken from dinner, as well as olives, dried tomatoes and onions will also work well here. It all depends on your preferences.
Ketchup or mayonnaise will go great with ready-made casseroles. You can also do homemade garlic sauce, that’s enoughthat you mix a few tablespoons of Greek yogurt with mayonnaise in a bowl, then add chopped chives and dill, pressed garlic, a bit of lemon juice, salt and pepper.
To prepare the recipe, you will need:
- 2 long baguettes,
- a little olive oil for drizzling.
Sos:
- 200 g tomato passata,
- 50 g of tomato paste,
- half a teaspoon of oregano,
- half a teaspoon of basil,
- 1 clove of garlic,
- salt and pepper.
Stuffing:
- 100 g mushrooms,
- 1 onion,
- 150 g mozzarella,
- frying oil,
- a few basil leaves for decoration.
In a small pot, combine the tomato passata and tomato paste. Add oregano, basil and pressed garlic. Season with salt and pepper to taste and mix thoroughly. Heat until the sauce boils, then reduce the burner power to minimum. After a few minutes, set aside.
Clean the mushrooms and cut into thin slices. Peel the onion and chop into small cubes. Heat a little oil in a pan and fry everything. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then set the stuffing aside to cool slightly.
Cut the baguettes into smaller pieces. Grate the mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle each piece lightly with olive oil to make the bread crispy after baking. Spread a layer of tomato sauce, arrange the mushrooms and cover with cheese.
Preheat the oven to 180°C, top down. Place the casseroles on a baking tray lined with baking paper and place in the oven. Bake for about 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and lightly browned and the baguettes are crispy. Tear the basil in your hand and decorate the casserole with mushrooms and cheese just before serving.
