The PSOL candidate for succession in the Chamber, deputy Pastor Henrique Vieira (RJ), defended this Tuesday (26) the shelving of the Amnesty PL and said that he intends to isolate far-right parliamentarians. The announcement took place during the official launch of his candidacy.
“We defend strongly, without any doubt: no amnesty for anyone who attempted a coup against democracy in our country. In this regard, there can be no doubt about our position. I participated in the CPI on January 8th. [Tivemos] in-depth investigations, consistent evidence. It was a close call that we didn’t have a coup,” said Pastor Henrique.
When launching his candidacy for the presidency of the Chamber, Pastor Henrique will compete for the position with Arthur Lira’s (PP-AL) favorite, deputy Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), who has already won the support of more than 15 parties.
“There is no political condition for us at Psol to support Hugo Motta. We respect the legitimacy of your candidacy, but [em se tratando] from someone who is nominated by Arthur Lira and a historical ally of Eduardo Cunha [ex-presidente da Câmara cassado em 2016]it is a complete impossibility for us”, said Vieira.
The PSOL parliamentarian also highlighted that he will veto “setbacks to social rights” and that he will reduce the annual amount allocated to parliamentary amendments. Another agenda defended by the deputy is the regulation of big techs and control of social networks. “This candidacy is to prevent a consensus around the possibility of the extreme right being legitimized,” he stated.
The election that will define the new Board of Directors is scheduled for the beginning of February, with the date still being confirmed. In addition to the position of president, the occupants of the roles of 1st and 2nd vice-presidents, and 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th secretaries, who make up the Board of Directors of the Chamber, will be defined.
