Corinthians fans are engaged in crowdfunding to pay off the debt owed to Caixa Econômica Federal for Neo Química Arena. In 24 hours of the campaign, R$7.46 million were raised. The project has the support of Gaviões da Fiel, the main organization of the black and white team, and aims to reach R$700 million, the amount owed by the club to the state bank.
The project is planned to last six months. If the target is not reached, the amount will be used to renegotiate and amortize the outstanding debt with Caixa. Donations occur through Pix and go to a specific account at the bank itself. The amount can only be moved after the campaign ends.

If the crowdfunding continues at the fundraising pace of the first 24 hours, the project would take 92 days to reach the goal, that is, just over three months, half of the maximum period established by the crowdfunding organization.
It is worth noting that at no time does the money pass through Corinthians’ coffers. In fact, the club warned fans about fake website addresses that would lead. In total, 36 fraudulent pages have already been taken down by Corinthians’ Information Technology department.
In October, Corinthians signed a Protocol of Intent with Caixa and Gaviões to make the project viable. The stadium’s debt rose by almost R$150 million in the last four years, going from R$566 million in 2020 to R$710 million by the middle of 2024. It originated from the loan taken out by Corinthians in 2014, from the National Bank of Economic and Social Development (BNDES), through Caixa, in the amount of R$400 million.

In 2023, former president Duílio Monteiro Alves even announced that there was an agreement with Caixa to pay off the debt, information denied by his successor Augusto Melo. The current president even met in Brasília with the bank, but the board did not present a concrete proposal.
