Macron confirmed support for Ukraine and condemned the escalation of Russian attacks.

French President Emmanuel Macron spoke on the phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday, confirming support for Ukraine and again condemning the escalation of Russian attacks. TASR informs about this according to a Reuters report referring to the statements of both presidents.

According to the statement of his office, in the phone call, Macron “condemned in the strongest possible terms Russia’s attacks, which are carried out in an indiscriminate manner against the cities, civilian population or energy infrastructure of Ukraine and are constantly escalating”.

Separately, Zelenskyi said on the Telegram social network that he once again emphasized to the French president the importance of inviting Ukraine to the North Atlantic Alliance. “I had a productive telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron. I thanked him for France’s readiness to help with the overall strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense and for the support and acceleration of the transfer of (French fighter) Mirage aircraft (to Ukraine),” he said.

France is to deliver Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine in 2025

France should deliver the first batch of Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine in the first three months of 2025. In the meantime, Ukrainian pilots and mechanics will be trained in France to operate and maintain them.

On Friday, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, Andriy Sybiha, asked his departmental colleagues from NATO member countries to invite Ukraine to the Alliance at the upcoming ministerial meeting, which will be held in Brussels on December 3-4.

Although all NATO member states confirmed at the July summit in Washington that Ukraine is on an “irreversible path” to membership in the Alliance, the US, Germany and other countries, including Slovakia, refuse to invite Kyiv due to concerns about the escalation of the conflict.
