Brazilian rapper Djonga was invited to represent Atlético-MG in the pre-game of the Libertadores final this Saturday (30/11), at Monumental de Núñez, in Buenos Aires. On the Botafogo side, the chosen one was comedian and actor Marcelo Adnet.

Who is Djonga?
Born on June 4, 1994 in Favela do Índio, in Belo Horizonte, Djonga, whose birth name is Gustavo Pereira Marques, had musical influence from his family, which, over time, became a taste more centered on funk and rap. .
Djonga started attending a poetry soiree in 2012, when he was still in high school, and there he started writing poems. He was invited to be part of a rap group and attended studios, when he set to music a “beat” with one of his poems, which became his first single, “Corpo Fechado”.
From then on, the rapper released his first album, called “Fechando o Corpo” and gained more space in the music scene. Djonga went on to study History at the Federal University of Ouro Preto, in Minas Gerais, but his success as a rapper led him to not complete his university course.
In 2017, he had great success with the release of the album “Heresia”, which was nominated for an award from the São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA). In 2018, he released another great success, the album “O Menino Que Queria Ser Deus”.

In 2019, he released another album, the album “Ladrão”. In 2020, “Stories from My Area”. He was the first Brazilian nominated for the BET Hip Hop Awards, a prestigious musical award in the United States.
In 2021, he released the album “NU”. A curious fact is that their releases were always released on March 13th.
He also made two more albums in the following two years: “O Dono do Lugar”, in 2022, and “Inocente”, in 2021, both being released on October 13th, changing the usual day on which he released his work.
Djonga is known for making songs portraying the reality of Brazilian outskirts and racism. One of the rapper’s “war cries” is “fire on the racists”, sung in “Olho de Tigre”. Among his most listened to songs are “SOLTO”, “BENÇA”, “LEAL”, “CORRA” and “O Mundo é Nosso”.
A fanatical Atlético-MG fan, Djonga was involved in a controversy in the 2021 Copa do Brasil final, when Galo faced Athletico. During a match at Mineirão, the rapper punched one of the stadium’s security guards. After the incident, Djonga stated that he suffered racism, which led him to react.

Brazilian fans will have different options to watch the final. TV Globo will broadcast live on open TV – the broadcast starts at 4pm, one hour before the ball drops. The signal will be retransmitted by GloboPlay (streaming).
