Why will Cruzeiro x Palmeiras be behind closed doors?
The decision was confirmed by the CBF this Sunday (01/12). The measure was taken due to the fight between Palmeiras and Cruzeiro fans, in October, which resulted in the death of a Cruzeiro fan, in addition to 20 people being injured. The information is from Rádio Itatiaia.
The government of Minas Gerais requested that the game be held behind closed doors, which was accepted by the CBF. One measure analyzed was that the confrontation could only have Cruzeiro fans, but the suggestion was criticized by the Palmeiras board.

Why did Palmeiras’ organization attack Cruzeiro’s?
The attack on the Cruzeirenses bus would be a “response” to 2022, when the two fans faced each other on a highway in Carmópolis de Minas. On that occasion, the president of the Palmeiras organization, Jorge Luiz, was attacked. There were no deaths.
Since then, the relationship between the organizations has worsened.

The tragedy occurred at km 65 of Rodovia Fernão Dias, following the meeting of the clubs’ organized fans, around 5am. According to a note from the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), the confusion occurred because organized Palmeiras fans organized the ambush of another organized fan, only from Cruzeiro.
