This salad it is known all over the world. According to some sources, Colesław may be derived from from ancient Rome and refer to the culinary art used by this civilization. Its name refers to the word “koolsla”, which is an abbreviation of “koolsalade”, which in Dutch means “cabbage salad”.

Traditionally, coleslaw contains shredded cheese white cabbagecarrots and onions. Vegetables are added to such a mixture cream and mayonnaise sauceoften enriched with mustard or vinegar. Herbs are originally selected dill or parsleyi. Often this composition is modified and e.g. apple or other types of cabbage are added to it.

Recently, I had some cole slaw at my dinner, but not the usual one, because… from red cabbage. To still retain a touch of tradition, I combined a red head with a white one in the salad. The whole thing is like this delicious, refreshing and distinctivethat I don’t want to go back to the old, well-known version. Additionally, the whole thing Roasted nuts add character. This is something for real connoisseurs.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 head of red cabbage,
  • 1/4 head of white cabbage,
  • 1 carrot,
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise,
  • 2 tablespoons of cream,
  • 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar,
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar,
  • a handful of peanuts,
  • sun,
  • pepper.

Clean both types of cabbage and then cut into thin strips. Wash, peel and grate the carrots on a medium-sized grater. Place the prepared vegetables in one large bowl i udderkeep them together.

In a separate vessel combine mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper. Pour the prepared sauce into a large bowl and mix thoroughly until the vegetables will be completely covered with it. Put the coleslaw in the fridge for at least 3 hours.

After this time in the pan roast a handful of peanuts. When they reach a golden brown color, sprinkle them on top of the salad. Ready-made coleslaw with red cabbage serve immediately after decorating it with peanutsi.
