Crater appears in residential neighborhood and forces evacuation of dozens of homes

The large hole that appeared on a road, very close to a house, continues to grow, which is alarming the population of Merthyr Tydfil, Wales.

The large sinkhole forced the evacuation of more than 30 homes. The crater appeared in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, on Sunday morning, and continues to grow. “More cracks are appearing in the road and reaching walls and gardens,” local official Brent Carter told the BBC on Monday.

Speaking to the BBC, a resident said that he heard “bangs and collapses” and feared losing his home.

Residents who have had to leave their homes have been told, however, that they may not be able to return before Christmas.
