Renata Reis, a contestant on TVI’s Casa dos Segredos program, sparked controversy after reporting, during a conversation with colleagues, an episode involving her dog. The law student mentioned that the animal, a Yorkshire, “got the hell out of her” after running away from home, ensuring that, since then, it has never run away again.
The report generated outrage on social media and reached the political sphere. Inês de Sousa Real, PAN spokesperson, announced on the social network X that the party will report the case to the Public Ministry. The deputy highlighted that “animal abuse is a public crime” and asked TVI to avoid normalizing violence against animals on the program.
Although some internet users argue that Renata’s words were taken out of context and that she never admitted to having attacked the animal, the competitor faces criticism from several spectators. If the complaint progresses, it could result in legal proceedings.
Renata: “I had a Yorkshire (…) She ran away once and got the shit of her life, never again.”
