MST invades farms in Rio Grande do Sul

The invaded two rural properties in Rio Grande do Sul this Tuesday (3), Fazenda Nova and Fazenda Santa Angélica, located in Pedras Altas. The group demands that the federal government advance in the process of purchasing land for settlements. The Brazilian Rural Society issued a note of rejection and says that disrespect for property rights is unacceptable.

The occupation of the Santa Angélica cabin, founded in 1870 and recognized for its tradition in breeding Creole horses and Hereford and Braford cattle, violates property rights and is a serious attack on legal security. It is unacceptable that rural producers, who are dedicated to food production and the country’s economic development, still have to live with this constant insecurity.

One of the main fears of agriculture was the increase in land invasion under the command of the Lula government. A fact that has taken place since the first year of the PT’s administration, with 94 land invasions in these first two years of government above the Bolsonaro and Temer governments. Connivance with land invasions is truly unacceptable and the authorities need to act quickly to avoid the loss of peace in the countryside and legal security in the country.
