The masked gunman shot Thompson multiple times at close range Wednesday morning outside a Hilton hotel where he was attending an investor conference.

According to these sources, the shooter was caught on surveillance video at 5 a.m. on the morning of the shooting outside the Frederick Douglass Houses, a housing complex on the Upper West Side. This footage showed the suspect carrying what appeared to be an electric bicycle battery, the vehicle later used in the escape.

Police also recovered a bottle of water and a candy wrapper from the scene of the shooting, which they believe are linked to the shooter. Fingerprint and DNA testing on the items is underway, police sources told ABC News.
