Can Santos sign Gabigol?
According to “GE” Santos has not yet given up on signing Gabigol. At this moment, there is a discussion between the Peixe board and the athlete’s representatives regarding the implementation of a project for the return of the striker, who played for Alvinegro between 2013 and 2016, in addition to a second spell in 2018.
Although some news reports that Gabi will receive around R$3 million per month, Santos does not believe in these values. Peixe’s proposal would be R$500,000 less. A possible return of Neymar would also be decisive for Gabriel Barbosa to play again at Vila Belmiro.
Still according to information from “GE”, Gabigol would be seen as a “priority”. Even if the player is advanced with negotiations involving Cruzeiro, the club’s idea would be to try to cross the Minas Gerais team.
Santos’ idea is to reassemble and restructure the club thinking about the 2025 season and aiming to reach international competitions in 2026.

What did Gabigol say about the new club for 2025?
The player spent a difficult year in 2024 at Rubro-Negro, being little used by coach Tite and being accused of doping. After the Copa do Brasil title, the player let off steam.
— It was my last final. I’m not staying at Flamengo. It was a troubled year for me individually, (there was the) issue of doping, then a coach who didn’t respect me as a player. During those moments, I never tried to express it in any way, but it was a horrible period for me — he told “Globo”
In the same interview, Gabi was asked which club he would defend next season, but he declined.
— (I’m) very emotional, I have affection for Flamengo. Now I have to make the most of these remaining games and be able to say goodbye to the fans. I’m not staying at Flamengo, in recent years there have been negotiations, the president, the board, shook my hand, my father’s, and then things happened that I really didn’t like. I always found out about things through the podcast, never in person. I spoke to Marcos Braz to stay for two, three years, but there was never an offer from Flamengo — revealed the player.
What should Gabigol’s salary be?
At Flamengo, he received a monthly salary of around R$1.45 million. In Cruzeiro, it will reach practically R$3 million, starting in January.
This value includes earnings that go beyond the gross salary. There will also be issues such as image rights and gloves, which correspond to the acquisition of economic rights.
