According to what Trump reported, shortly after denying Iranian media reports about the content of the draft agreement, he claimed that he believed the Iranian leadership “very much wants to make a deal,” but as he emphasized, “We’re not at that point yet. We are not satisfied, but we will be. Either this will be done or we will finish the job.”
As Trump said, “Iran thought they could tire us out and wait for our move. But they want to make a deal, I don’t think they have any other choice.” He insisted that sanctions against Iran would not be eased in exchange for handing over the country’s enriched uranium.
The refutation that preceded the Straits
Earlier, however, White House deputy press secretary Olivia Wales told Fox News and other media outlets that US-Iran talks are “progressing smoothly.”
“As President Trump has said, negotiations are proceeding smoothly and he has made his red lines clear,” Wales said in an email, according to a US media outlet. According to her: “President Trump will only make a good deal for the American people, which should ensure that Iran never gets a nuclear weapon.”
However, it is noted that Trump also referred to the issue of the Straits of Hormuz, which was also the main topic in the reports on the draft by the Iranian media, repeating that “we don’t need oil. We don’t need the Straits. We don’t need anything” before then arguing that the Strait of Hormuz would remain open to all and not controlled by any country under any deal with Iran.

“We will supervise it, but no one will control them. That’s part of the negotiation we’re doing,” Trump said at the Cabinet meeting.
Responding to a related question about Iran and Oman’s talks on sharing control of the Straits, Trump said that “Oman will behave like everyone else, or we will have to bomb it,” while adding: “They understand that. Everything will be fine.”
