The PPP called an emergency meeting of all deputies to debate Saturday’s vote in the scheduled parliamentary session to approve or reject Yoon’s dismissal.
The leader of South Korea’s ruling party called for the President’s immediate suspension, alleging that Yoon Suk-yeol ordered the detention of several political leaders during martial law briefly imposed on Tuesday.
“Taking into account the recent information, I think it is necessary to immediately suspend President Yoon Suk-yeol from office to protect the Republic of Korea [nome oficial do país] and the people”, declared Han Dong-hoon, at an emergency meeting of the People’s Power Party (PPP, conservative), at the National Assembly (parliament).
Han said he confirmed “with credible evidence” that Yoon gave orders to arrest him, leader of the PPP, Lee Jae-myung, leader of the main opposition party, the Democratic Party (PD), and stated that such “radical actions ”, which put the country “in great danger”, could be repeated if the President, who is expected to be removed by parliament on Saturday, continues in power.

Han’s words are interpreted as a foreshadowing of what would be a new message to PPP deputies to vote in favor of the impeachment motion.
On Thursday, Han had called for voting unity among lawmakers to prevent Yoon’s dismissal.
But hours later, local media outlets, such as the Chosun newspaper, the most widely circulated in South Korea, reported that Yoon had given orders to counterintelligence commander Yeo In-hyung to arrest Han, Lee or the speaker of the Assembly. National, the independent Woo Won-shik, considering them “anti-state” elements, and that military units had been mobilized to prepare the aforementioned arrests.
PD leader Lee Jae-myung also called for Yoon’s immediate disqualification following Han’s statements.
