Amid a wave of changes at SBT, presenter Raul Gil was fired and ends a 14-year cycle of his program on the station. The information was confirmed by him in a video published on social media.
Gil, however, does not rule out a possible return in the future. “I’m not afraid of standing still. My life will continue (…) We are away, suddenly we come back. I went back to SBT three times. For Record, three times. For the Band, twice. Now it’s a question of age,” said the 86-year-old presenter.

According to him, the dismissal was the result of “small changes” that Daniela Beyruti, daughter of Silvio Santos and vice-president of SBT, is promoting in the company. “I wish Daniela all the luck in the world. May she be very happy with her new hires”, stated Raul.
“The Raul Gil Program (…) brought many words of comfort to many viewers. God is great. I take my hat off”, added the presenter.
In the comments of the publication, Raul Gil was acclaimed by fans and professional colleagues. “You will never be off TV. You are big. I love you”, wrote singer Simony.
“Grandpa, there are no words that can express my gratitude to you! You are a heritage of our nation. Our families admire you and thank you for always respecting your viewers, providing us with entertainment where we all sat in the living room to watch”, wrote a viewer.
There were also those who disagreed with the changes to the SBT schedule. “God forgive me, but taking Raul out to put Lucas (Guimarães). A rather clueless bet. Raul Gil, it is already consolidated at this time. I’m going to miss the Raul Gil Program, it’s already a tradition here at home”, commented a fan. Lucas Guimarães is the husband of influencer Carlinhos Maia and will premiere a program on the broadcaster’s schedule on March 8th.
