Lucerne – The unusual mix of genres Emilia Perez by French director Jacques Audiard is the big winner of the 37th European Film Awards. The narco-trans musical was not only recognized as the best film of the year in the evening in Lucerne, Switzerland. Audiard also received the trophy for best director and screenwriter. And leading actress Karla Sofía Gascón was honored as best actress. The prize for the best cut of the work had already been published in advance. The film, which won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival last May, tells the story of a well-known Mexican drug trafficker who, with the help of a lawyer, performs gender reassignment surgery on Emilia Pérez in order to go into hiding.
