The layered one herring salad is an ideal appetizer not only on the holiday table. It looks beautiful and tastes even better. It is not difficult to prepare and combines aromatic flavors root vegetables, including sweet carrots and beets, bold fish and the sourness of cucumber. The whole is complemented by cream mayonnaise. Don’t forget to sprinkle everything dillgoes very well with the other ingredients.

Herring salad be sure to serve in a transparent bowl. Arrange the ingredients in layers, which will make it look very nice on the table. Prepare:

  • 100 g herring fillet,
  • 100 g potatoes,
  • 100 g marchewek,
  • 100 g pickled cucumbers,
  • 150 g beets,
  • 1 egg,
  • 200g majonezu,
  • 1 teaspoon of white vinegar,
  • 1 teaspoon of granulated onion,
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper.

Additionally:

Boil the potatoes and carrots together until soft in one pot without peeling – remove the carrots 10 minutes earlier. In the second pot, cook the beets until soft, for about 60 minutes, depending on the size of the tubers. Leave the vegetables to cool at room temperature. Peel them.

Grate the beets and carrots separately on a small grater. Use large meshes to grate the cucumbers. Finely dice the potatoes. Hard boil the egg, then peel it and cut it into medium cubes. Rinse the herring under water and dry them with paper towels. Sprinkle them with vinegar and sprinkle with onion, then cut them into strips about 2 cm thick.

Place the pieces of herring in the salad bowl, setting aside 2 strips for later decoration. Then place the sliced ​​potatoes and press them gently with a fork. Spread 1/3 of the mayonnaise and smooth out the layer. Then put the carrots and egg. Cover them with another 1/3 of the mayonnaise. Place the grated beets on top and spread the remaining mayonnaise on them. Sprinkle everything with black pepper.

Place the two pieces of fish you had previously set aside on top of the herring salad. Decorate everything with dill. Place the dish in the fridge for a few hours to let the flavors combine. Serve cold, preferably with fresh bread.
