Sales of new properties grew 23% in Brazil until August

Minha Casa, Minha Vida Program contributed to the increase in total sales in the real estate sector

The Brazilian real estate market recorded a 23% increase in sales of new properties in the period from January to August 2024. The Minha Casa, Minha Vida Program recorded a growth of 28.8% in the number of units sold and 25.3% in the total value of sales.

According to the Abrainc-Fipe indicator, sales of 121,930 units were recorded. The partnership is formed by the (Brazilian Association of Real Estate Developers) and Fipe (Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas). Here is the document (PDF – 1 MB).

Launches linked to the program also showed an increase. An increase of 43.9% in volume and 46.6% in value was recorded.

The Medium and High Standard segment was not left behind, showing an increase of 4.7% in sales volume and 25.9% in the total value sold, despite high interest rates. Launches in this segment grew 4.2% in volume and 9.1% in value.

The president of Abrainc, Luiz França, highlighted the sector’s challenges, especially in relation to real estate financing for the middle class. “With new sources available to the buyer, the Brazilian real estate market will continue to strengthen and contribute significantly to the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and to the creation of jobs and income in the country,” he stated.
