ISRAEL OCCUPIES GOLÍ HILLS
Despite celebrating the fall of Assad, the Israeli leader said that the current context is “fraught with significant dangers”.
On the same day, he ordered the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) to occupy a demilitarized zone in the Golan Heights. The territory is located in northeastern Syria, about 60 kilometers from the capital Damascus.
According to Netanyahu, the 1974 agreement that regulated the demilitarized zone in the region ceased to exist after Syrian forces left their positions.
“[Os militares] are not interfering in internal events in Syria […] will continue to operate as long as necessary to preserve the buffer zone (area controlled by UN peacekeepers that divides two States), Israel and its civilians”.
