2024 of the Safest Cities in Brazil classified a ranking of cities based on the murder rate per 100 thousand inhabitants.
The data are from IBGE and the Ministry of Health, with the number of deaths per city classified according to the ICD-10 of the World Health Organization (WHO).

1. Palhoça (SC)
Palhoça is 15 km away from the capital of Santa Catarina. Located in the metropolitan region of Florianópolis, the city is full of natural beauty. The beach region has a violence rate of 5.9 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants.
2. São José de Ribamar (MA)
With 250 thousand inhabitants, São José de Ribamar is famous for its religious tourism. Thus, the highlight goes to the Sanctuary of São José de Ribamar. The region has a rate of 8.7 murders per 100,000 inhabitants. It is the second safest beach city in Brazil.
3. Itajai (SC)
Itajaí is located on the north coast of Santa Catarina, next to Balneário Camboriú and Navegantes. The region has many natural beauties and paradisiacal beaches. The municipality has more than 270 thousand residents and an average of 8.8 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants. It is the third safest beach city in Brazil.
4. Santos (SP)
Santos is the city famous for the largest port complex in Latin America, as well as being the most populous coastal municipality in São Paulo. The population is around 425 thousand people and a rate of 9.1 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants. It is the fourth safest beach city in Brazil.
5. Paço do Lumiar (MA)
It has 150,000 inhabitants and is located in the Metropolitan Region of São Luís. Therefore, it is famous for its ecological tourism, which features beaches, mangroves, rivers and streams. Paço do Lumiar has an average of 9.3 deaths per 100 thousand residents. It is the fifth safest beach city in Brazil.
6. Florianópolis (SC)
Finally, the capital of Santa Catarina, southern region of Brazil, is one of the most sought after by those looking for quality of life. The population of Florianópolis has approximately 560 thousand people. It has a rate of 10 murders per 100,000 inhabitants and is the fifth safest beach city in Brazil.
