A “person of interest” was detained for questioning this Monday (9), in the state of Pennsylvania, allegedly, Brian Thompson, on a New York street last week.
The suspect was arrested in the city of Altoona and was in possession of a weapon similar to the one used in last Wednesday’s shooting, reported the The New York Times ea NBC Newsciting anonymous sources.
Information that has not yet been confirmed indicates that the suspect was also in possession of a manifesto when he was detained.
The discovery came on the sixth day of a manhunt involving the New York Police Department (NYPD), the FBI and other agencies. Authorities discovered several videos and photos of the suspect, from which they developed a precise timeline to outline how he escaped.
The man was identified on Monday based on a tip after he was seen at a McDonald’s restaurant by another customer, the NYT reported. In addition to the gun with a silencer, police found fake identification cards similar to those authorities believe the killer used in New York.
According to local media, New York police divers spent much of the weekend searching for the murder weapon in a lake in Central Park.
