State deputy Emídio de Souza (PT) presented an amendment to the São Paulo government’s 2025 Budget proposal that increases resources for the purchase of .
According to him, the budget piece sent by the Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) administration does not provide resources for expanding the use of equipment.
The PT member is the author of a bill that establishes that all PMs in the state use cameras within four years.
The project, however, has been stuck in the office of the leader of the Republicans in the Assembly, Altair Morais, an ally of the governor, since October 2023. He has not yet offered an opinion on the text.
“The acquisition of body cameras is essential to maintain and expand the use of these essential devices in combating criminal activities, reducing police lethality and preserving the rights of police officers”, says Emídio.
